I bought this for my 16 month old and she or he loves it! I offered this so my daughter might climb in and out of it and run round it, I didn't purchase it intending for it to be a ball pit. Yes, I know that's the primary use for it, but that used to ben't my intention. The balls are great for her to play with, however she similar tos to climb in and out of this.
If you might be intending for it to be strictly used for a ball pit, then sure, you will want to buy extra balls, but I was oncen't intending it for that purpose. The balls are pretty comfortable and squish straightforward so it is a just right factor they're cheaper.
